The 24th edition of the international documentary film, which has been running in the city since 1994, will kick off on June 9 next year, on a five-day run.

Alex Graham, chair of Sheffield Doc/Fest, said: “I’ve grown used to people throwing superlatives at me about Doc/Fest, but I have had more spontaneous, heartfelt compliments this year than I can ever recall before. Special congratulations to LizMcIntyre for making her first Doc/Fest as a director such a triumph.”

Director Liz said: “These record figures are testament to the creativity, passion and dedication of the Festival team who worked with such tireless enthusiasm to deliver this must-see and must-attend programme across the film, Alternate Realities and Marketplace.

“I am so proud to be at the helm of this inclusive and game-changing Festival. Thank you to all the filmmakers and project creators, supporters, delegates and public audiences, who created such a six day buzz in Sheffield.”
