Carlton Club's title hopes were put on hold following their 5-2 reverse at Union Club.

Steve Storey led off the hosts beating Jimmy Haslam, John Cartledge levelled and inflicted the first defeat of the season upon Mick Ridge before Jordan Lister overcame Alan Robinson and Brian Edis edged out Andy Radford.

Tony Darlow mastered Andy Else and Les Barker fell to Garry Jeffries to take the points.

Gary Eaton won the last for Carlton against Matt Gray.

Second-placed Pewter Pot failed to take advantage of Carlton’s defeat as they went down 4-3 at Trades & Labour and this after leading three one at on stage.

Josh Thompson put them ahead against Roy Gorman, Ian Cook levelled against Greg Martin (16 darts) before Carl Moorhouse and Pete Walsh (180 & 16 darts) beat Kieran Parkinson and Billy Field respectively.

Trades then changed gear and took the final three games and the points as Stuart Ortton edged out John Bowler, Mark Pigott beat Neil Moreman and Aidan Cook held his nerve in the last to take out Kevin Thompson.

Lord Nelson and Wales Jubilee SC had a great tussle at Arundel Street and it was the hosts who prevailed winning 4-3 after going two up when Tony Atknison brushed off Paul Blogg and Terry Baggaley conquered John Clifford despite John’s 180 maximum.

Andy Whittington pulled one back for Wales when he upset Graham Bell, Jimmy Buttery (113 c/o) restored Fanney’s two game cushion when he beat Gary Smith only for Tony Cresswell to hit back again for the visitors taking out Marie Thurston.

The home team clinched the win when Craig Thorpe saw off Steve Storey with Mark Thompson winning the last game consolation against Paul Furniss.

Steelers had a comprehensive 7-0 home win against Mosborough MW to finish their home season with their winners being, (losers in brackets) Martyn Nicholls, who hit the joint highest finish of the season, 161, against (Terry Harris), Chris Fowler (Lee Whitmore), Andy Taylor (Ian Green), Tom Denton (Matt Higginson), John Hatch (116 c/o & 15 darts) (Kamen Thompson), Jordan Wilson (Lauren Chapman) and Brian Hylands (Jamie Booker).
