Darren wins the vote in dance-off

SOUTH Yorkshire Strictly Come Dancing star Darren Bennett will don his dancing shoes and sequins for another week after scraping through to the next round in a dramatic dance-off.

Darren, who lives in Rotherham with his wife and TV show rival Lilia Kopylova, ended up in the bottom two with ex-Eastenders actress Letitia Dean after the pair’s rumba got the second worst score of the night - 23 out of 40.

The judge’s score combined with the public vote meant Darren, who was born in Deepcar and brought up in Todwick, had to battle it out against actress Stephanie Beacham for a place in next Saturday’s show.

And despite Letitia’s first performance being criticised as “restrained” by judge Bruno Tonioli, and “clinical,” “cold”, and “ stiff” by Craig Revel-Horwood, the pair got the backing of three of the four judges in the dance-off.
