FIRE crews cordoned off a garage in Dunscroft, Doncaster, amid fears of an explosion.
When Doncaster and Thorne crews arrived at the property in York Road they realised the burning garage contained a number of cylinders, which they thought might contain acetylene.
Firefighters set up a 100m radius cordon to keep people away.
However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the cyclinders did not contain such a volatile substance and the alert was downgraded.
The cause of the blaze, at teatime on Christmas Day, is still under investigation, said a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.
It is not believed anybody had to be evacuated.
