Damning report on Sheffield care home branded '˜inadequate' twice in seven months

Warren Park care home in Chapeltown was given the lowest rating by the Care Quality Commission in terms of safety, effectiveness and management.

The home failed a previous inspection in September 2015 and it fell short of receiving even a satisfactory rating in any of the five categories checked in April.

Staffing levels were criticised and inspectors found that, on some occasions, there was no-one available to give people their morning medicines at the right time.

Inspectors also found some staff had not received all the appropriate training for their role and responsibilities, and nursing staff had not received supervision.

It is understood that a new manager is now in place at the care home.

Debbie Westhead, deputy chief inspector of Adult Social Care, said: “People are entitled to services which provide safe, effective, compassionate and well-led high- quality care.

“Our biggest concern with Warren Park is that there was a lack of sufficient improvement to meet their regulation obligations.

“This is why we have intervened to keep people using this service safe.

“We must take action to protect people when we are worried about their safety.

“The service will be kept under review and we will not hesitate to take further enforcement action.”

The care home declined to comment.
