Cyclist's handbag stolen by thief on bike

A THIEF on a bike stole a designer handbag from a woman cyclist as he overtook her on a Doncaster street.

The 45-year-old woman was cycling to work along Stonehill Rise, Scawthorpe, when a teenager appeared alongside her, cycling in the same direction. Police say he reached out and grabbed her handbag from the basket on the front of her bike and cycled away towards Amersall Crescent, where the victim lost sight of him.

The teenager was white, approximately 15 to 17-years-old and about 5ft 8in tall. He was of medium build and wore a dark coloured baseball cap, a grey/blue waist length jacket with a large, lighter emblem covering the top half of the back of the coat.

He was also wearing dark blue jeans and had a black scarf covering most of his face. He is thought to have been riding a medium-sized mountain bike.

The handbag is black canvas and designed by Ted Baker, measuring 30in by 15in with black leather handles and a silver square belt buckle attached. It also has a black and white lining.

Anyone with information about the incident on Wednesday September 26 at 11.55am should call Doncaster Crime Management Unit on 01302 385135 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
