Cyclist knocked off bike by police van in Sheffield

A man was taken to hospital after he was knocked off his bike by a police van in Sheffield.

The 43-year-old was cycling along Adlington Road, Parson Cross, when the collision occurred at the junction with Buchanan Road at 7.35pm last night.

A police spokeswoman,man said: “As the driver approached the crossroads, she slowed down at the give way line.

“It is believed that as the van pulled out of the junction, the cyclist, who was travelling down hill on Adlington Road, collided.

“The 43-year-old cyclist sustained injuries including pain to his left shoulder and back as well as cuts and bruises.”

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 1,040 of August 1.
