Cycle safety talk for children

Have your say

SCOUT, Cubs and Rainbows in Derbyshire had a visit from police to learn about bike safety.

Keith Lee and Alan Wright, who are special constabulary supervisors, visited the groups to help deliver the ‘Be Safe, Be Seen’ message - encouraging children to wear reflective clothing and make sure their bicycles are visible at night

Youngsters were given booklets on cycle safety and reflective clips that can be attached to zips to make them easier to be seen on the roads.

Scouts also had their bikes checked by Mr Lee, who is a qualified mechanic.

Mr Wright said: “Our aim is to help encourage local youngsters to be safe while they are out on their bikes, especially during the darker evenings when the message applies.
