Cycle rides and events to celebrate Tour de Yorkshire passing through Rotherham

A series of cycle rides and events are to be held in Rotherham this spring and summer to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire bike ride passing through the town.

On Sunday, April 24, cyclists are invited to ride part of the route professionals will be using, with a gentle ride taking in Braithwell, Stainton and Maltby.

The ride, which starts at Maltby Leisure Centre at 10am, is suitable for families with children aged eight and over.

With numbers limited to 20 riders, booking is necessary.

It has been planned by Cycle Rotherham, which organises rides on the second Sunday of the month.

Maltby Leisure Centre will also be hosting a Cycle HUB on Saturday, April 23, between 10am and 3pm, where people can sign up for bike hire, cycle training and route planning.,

Help will also be available for minor repairs and adjustments bikes.

There are also organised rides planned May 8, June 12, July 10 and August 14.

The Tour de Yorkshire is a international cycle race which will take place on April 29 and 30, and May 1.
