A public meeting, which Sheffield residents will be able to attend, is to be held next Monday, February 29, at 10am in the Town Hall.

Coun Terry Fox, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for transport, told a special meeting with bus operators in December that the city’s bus situation was ‘unacceptable’ and it was ‘not what we were promised.’

Monday’s meeting will be attended by Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, Kevin Belfield, managing director of First South Yorkshire, Paul Hopkinson or Phil Stockley of TM Travel, Stephen Edwards, executive director of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, and members of the Sheffield City Region Transport Committee. They will be asked to show how they have made improvements to services since the cuts were debated on the back of a 12,500 signature petition handed in to the council.

A Sheffield Bus Partnership spokesman said: “Sheffield Bus Partnership will report on service performance figures at a public meeting in Sheffield Town Hall on Monday, February 29 at 10am.

“Members of the public can register their interest to speak in writing to The Clerk, SCR Combined Authority, 18 Regent Street, Barnsley, S70 2HG, by email at [email protected] or by using the online submission facility on the Combined Authority website www.southyorks.gov.uk by noon this Friday.”

The Sheffield Bus Partnership consists of the council, bus operators, SYPTE and Sheffield Community Transport.
