Young man dies in tragic motorcycle crash near M1 in South Yorkshire

Police are appealing for information after a biker died in a crash near the M1 in South Yorkshire.

The 27-year-old man died following a collision in the Barugh Green area of Barnsley yesterday (Saturday, May 2).

At around 12.30pm, a green Kawasaki motorbike was involved in a collision on Cawthorne Road.

The rider is believed to have been heading downhill towards where the road goes under the M1, when for unknown reasons he and his bike left the road. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.

The rider, from Barnsley, was taken to hospital but passed away from his injuries.

His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or the bike beforehand, especially those with dash cam footage.
