Yobs causing mayhem on Sheffield estate after stealing bins and setting them on fire

Residents of a Sheffield estate are losing their patience as their bins are repeatedly stolen and set on fire on a nearby playing field, and say nothing is being done to help them.

One resident said: “In the last three weeks theres been a trend for youths to steal bins from Skye Edge Avenue and take them on to the playing fields and set them on fire."

They said that on four occsions they have seen people on the playing fields standing around the burning bins.

“Tennants are fed up with having to ask for new bins some have to pay for them,” the resident added.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of recent anti-social behaviour issues in the area and neighbourhood officers have responded by increasing their patrols.

“Officers have attended reported incidents and are in the process of working with the local community and partners in order to identify and apprehend those responsible."
