Robbers armed with a gun and knife left a woman bleeding when they grabbed her bag in a Sheffield street.

The culprits targeted their 46-year-old victim she walked along a cycle path close to Greenland View, Darnall, at 9.40pm last night.

South Yorkshire Police said the robbers threatened the woman with the firearm and blade while demanding money.

The victim’s hand was cut as one of the men grabbed her bag.

They fled in the direction of Darnall cemetery.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police in Sheffield are appealing for information after a 46-year-old woman was robbed in Darnall yesterday evening.

“At around 9.40pm it is reported that the woman was walking along the cycle path near to Greenland View when she was approached by two unknown men.

“The men are alleged to have threatened the woman with what is believed to be a handgun and a knife, demanding money.

“The woman suffered a cut to her hand from the knife as the suspects grabbed her bag and fled the scene in the direction of Darnall cemetery.

“Significant police resources were directed to the scene to search for the men to no gain.

“Did you witness the robbery? Did you see two men behaving suspiciously in the area last night?”
