A woman was taken to hospital and has been detained under the Mental Health Act after she was found bleeding in the middle of a road in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman was discovered bleeding in Burngreave Road, Burngreave, at around 12.40am today.

Officers blocked off the road and paramedics were called to the scene.

The woman’s wounds were found to be self-inflicted and were described by the police as superficial.
