Officers dealing with a stolen vehicle found on a Meadowhall car park were waiting for a recovery truck to arrive when they said ‘a female turned up pushing a trolley as though she was a contestant on Supermarket Sweep’.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The trolley was full with over £520 worth of shopping from a nearby supermarket.

“£520 worth of stuff that she hadn’t paid for.

“This female was more than a little surprised when we wandered over to say hello.”

The woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.

Anyone with information about those involved in shoplifting and handling stolen goods should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
