Sheffield Magistrates’ Court – sitting at Sheffield Crown Court – heard on June 1 how Maja Szablewska, aged 41, of Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross, Sheffield, struck her partner on May 30.

District Judge Naomi Redhouse told Szablewska: “I understand there is an argument between yourself and your partner and after the argument he goes outside with your young daughter and calls the police.

Szablewska pleaded guilty to assault by beating.

Matthew Shepherd, defending, said Szablewska has been segregated from people during this relationship and has suffered depression.

The court heard police have previously been called to Szablewska’s property with concerns for the defendant.

Szablewska was sentenced to a six-month community order with a rehabilitation requirement. She must pay a £95 victim surcharge.
