Woman arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after Sheffield flat fire

A woman is in police custody today on suspicion of starting a flat fire in Sheffield.

The 57-year-old, from Sheffield, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire in a first floor flat on Morland Road, Gleadless Valley.

Emergency services remain at the scene carrying out enquiries.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze just before 7pm yesterday.

A man and woman in the flat at the time were already out when fire crews arrived.

Other flats were evacuated.
