Woman arrested for ‘neglect’ amid concerns for children in Rotherham

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of neglect offences after concerns were raised for the safety of two children in South Yorkshire.

Police attended the East Herringthorpe area of Rotherham at around 9.30am on Wednesday.

They had received reports that two children, a six-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, were seen walking alone down Lady Oak Road.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of neglect offences.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Both children were unharmed in the incident and are safe and well.”
