Woman, aged 78, knocked to ground in mugging in Rotherham

A woman, aged 78, was knocked to the ground during a mugging in Rotherham.

The pensioner was walking along Stone Close, Ravenfield, when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her bag - knocking her over.

South Yorkshire Police said the OAP was taken to hospital for treatment for leg and facial injuries.

The mugger, who struck at 1pm on Tuesday, October 27, was white, between 20 and 25-years-old and was wearing dark trousers and a light grey top.

Officers are checking CCTV cameras and carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
