Vandals remove bolts from long-awaited children's climbing frame on Rotherham housing estate
“Not only a criminal offence, but, more importantly, could have serious consequences for any child using the equipment”
Bolts holding children’s play equipment together on a Rotherham estate have been removed by vandals.
The “long awaited” climbing frame in Highwall Park, on the Waverley Estate, Rotherham, was reportedly left loose and hazardous by the dangerous tampering.

The estate’s lead developer, Harworth Group PLC, said in a post on the Waverley Community Forum website on September 8 that further incidents result in equipment being removed in their entirely.
“We have been made aware of some issues regarding the play equipment on Highwall Park,” the post reads.
“The bolts holding the climbing apparatus together have been purposely removed resulting in the timber becoming loose which is not only vandalism; a criminal offence, but, more importantly, could have serious consequences for any child using the equipment.
“We urge anyone who witnesses the park being used in an inappropriate way or sees any instances of anti-social behaviour, to email [email protected] so that we can report this to the police.
“The park is a long-awaited addition to the community and should be able to be enjoyed by all users. Ultimately, should this continue, we will be left with no option but to remove the equipment entirely.”
