South Yorkshire Police said the man was wanted for theft at Glasgow and Strathkelvin Sheriff Court in 2012 and non-payment of fines at Dundee Sheriff Court in 2016.

“The male did not want to be stopped, as he had been in and out of the country over the years,” said Sergeant Adam Wood, from the force’s Broomhall policing team.

Police in Sheffield assisting their colleagues in Scotland tracked him down to an address in Crookes and he was detained on Sunday, May 31, and held in custody before being sent north of the border to face justice.

Sergeant Wood added that the man had ‘brought more attention to himself by breaking a lot of rules’ by stopping at a friend’s home in breach of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
