A man wanted over a serious assault in Sheffield has been arrested.

Detectives last week released the name of a suspect they wanted to speak to over the attack.

They also issued his photograph and appealed for anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.

Police chiefs said the man, Paul Cain, aged 23, was arrested after walking into a city police station on Tuesday evening.

He is to be questioned over an incident on Heeley Bank Road, Heeley, in which a 20-year-old man was attacked.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from stab wounds.

Anyone with information about the incident should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1,028 of December 23.
