Walkabout issue statement after teenager seriously injured in attack outside Sheffield bar

Walkabout say they are assisting police with their enquiries after a teenager was seriously injured outside the Sheffield bar yesterday morning (Wednesday).

The 19-year-old was attacked on West Street at around 3.20am and a police corden was put in place.

Crime Scene Investigators inspected the scene whilst the teenager was taken to hospital with ‘serious head injuries’.

Despite the attack, Walkabout confirmed it is was still open but stressed that they are helping police with the investigation.

A spokesperson said: “We understand that an incident took place on West Street, not far from our site, in the in the early hours.

“Walkabout closed as normal at 11pm, but CCTV footage from outside the venue has been handed to police to assist them with their enquiries. We are open as normal.”

No arrests have yet been made over the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers were called at around 3.20am after reports that a man had been assaulted on West Street in Sheffield.

“A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
