Police officers in Barnsley have spoken of their ‘disappointment’ at violence among fans at Barnsley’s televised game against Bradford at the weekend.

Officers intervened after a group of around 30 away fans stared brawling after the final whistle.

Chief Inspector Iain Chorlton, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “It is disappointing that after the final whistle some Bradford fans started pushing shoving and there were some blows exchanged.

“There were no complaints and no injuries seen.”
