An arson attack has been blamed for a blaze which damaged two homes in Sheffield the middle of the night.
Firefighters were called to Batemoor Close, Batemoor, at 12.30am today and found the porches of two homes engulfed in flames.
A bin outside one of the homes had been set alight.
A family of five escaped from one of the homes and a woman living alone next door also managed to get out.
Both homes are sealed off while police officers examine the scene and carry out inquiries on the street.
A 47-year-old woman has been arrested over the incident.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were called at around 12.35am this morning to reports of a fire at a property in Batemoor Close, Sheffield.
“Two properties and two vehicles are believed to have been damaged as a result of the fire and a number of local residents were evacuated as a precaution.
“Nobody was injured.
“A 47-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.”
