An air ambulance landed on a nearby park and a team of paramedics raced onto the estate on foot.

It has now emerged that a man in his 20s was stabbed at around 2pm in Lowedges Crescent.

He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

South Yorkshire Police said: “An investigation is now underway and a cordon is in place to allow initial enquiries to take place at the scene.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 411 of April 15.
