Firefighters said the suspected ignition source was a thrown cigarette from a vehicle. The video was posted on the Peak District Moorland Group Facebook page, set up to give a voice to the Moorland managers and rural business's within the Peak District.A spokesman for the group said: “Without this response we would have been looking at another huge blaze and more loss of moorland habitat and wildlife.”

Rain this weekend has seen some respite after a series of fires caused by irresponsible behaviour swept through the Peak District during the recent dry period.
