A man is in hospital with head injuries – three weeks after he was attacked on a night out in Sheffield city centre.

Police said the 20-year-old, from Dronfield, suffered ‘very serious’ head injuries when he was attacked outside the Corporation nightclub on Milton Street in the early hours of Saturday, April 20.

He was punched when he got out of a black Hackney cab outside the club.

The victim was rushed to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in a serious condition, where he remains. He is now described as stable.

Two men, aged 22 and 21 and from Rotherham, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The incident happened outside the Corporation nightclub on the corner of Eldon Street with Milton Street.

“It is believed a group of people were standing on the pavement, with another group inside the taxi.

“For some reason, those inside the vehicle got out and it is thought a suspect then punched one of them, causing him to suffer very serious head injuries.

“Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to come forward.

“Police are particularly trying to trace the driver of the taxi driver the victim got out of.”
