US national 'attacked partner in Sheffield street'

A thug who attacked his partner in the street has been placed on a community order.

Amaar Tayeh, aged 30, of Infirmary Road, Upperthorpe, Sheffield, was convicted of one count of assault by beating following a trial in his absence at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, told a previous hearing the case revolved around an allegation of an assault in the street in the context of a domestic relationship after the couple had been to a social occasion.

Mr Coyne added there was an allegation of assault with the complainant being dragged along the ground.

US national Tayeh pleaded not guilty but was found guilty in his absence. He pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court.

His case was adjourned to consider a probation report.

Tayeh was recently sentenced to a 12-month community order with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and 80 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay £80 compensation.
