Two teenage boys arrested after Barnsley serious assault on a man

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested on Wednesday (January 8) following a serious assault in Barnsley that left a man with a slash wound.

South Yorkshire Police said the officers from the Goldthorpe Neighbourhood Policing Team said the two male suspects believed to be involved in a serious assault that took place in the Goldthorpe area on Monday evening.

It was reported that a 40-year-old man was assaulted by a group of unknown offenders in the Barnsley town, just before 5pm.

The victim is said to have suffered a small wound during the incident.

In a tweet, Goldthorpe NPT said: “Officers from the Goldthorpe NPT have today arrested two male suspects believed to be involved in a serious assault that took place in the Goldthorpe area on Monday evening.

“Both males are currently accommodated within the Custody Suite at Barnsley Police Station.”
