A murder probe was launched after a 20-year-old man, named locally as Lewis Williams, was killed in a gun attack close to the Farmfoods store on Wath Road, in Mexborough, at around 5pm yesterday.

A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from the Doncaster area, have been arrested today on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.

Lewis Williams, aged 20, was shot dead outside the Farmfoods store on Wath Road, Mexborough, at around 5pm yesterday. Another boy, aged 17, also remains in custody after being arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of murder.

Police say the shooting is being treated as a targeted attack.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 495 of January 11.
