Detectives investigating the murder of 20-year-old Lewis Williams, who was shot dead on Wath Road, Mexborough, on Monday, January 11, arrested two men this morning.

A 20-year-old man from Barnsley is being held on suspicion of murder and a 49-year-old man from Doncaster is in police custody on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of ammunition.

Lewis was shot in his neck and face and despite the efforts of paramedics could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene of the gun attack.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are both charged with murder.

They are due at Sheffield Crown Court on February 1.

Four other men remain on police bail in connection with the shooting.
