Two men charged with firearm offences following Firth Park shooting

The men in their 20s will appear before Sheffield Magistrates today charged with suspected firearm offences.

Ahmed Ziad Ahmed, 21, of Stubbin Lane, Sheffield, has been charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of criminal property.

Joseph Bingham, 22, of no fixed abode, who will also be appearing in court, faces charges of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

It’s after police descended on Firth Park on Sunday following reports that a man had a gun, which was then seized by officers.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: “I am aware that there was a lot of speculation on social media about Sunday’s armed police activity, with some concerns that shots were fired.

“I’d like to reassure the community that no shots were fired and no firearms were used during this activity.”
