Two men arrested over abuse of Rotherham girls

Two men have been arrested over the alleged abuse of girls in Rotherham.

The men, aged 35 and 40, were arrested in connection with abuse which allegedly took place around 20 years ago, when the victims were aged between 13 and 15.

A third man, aged 35, was interviewed under caution by officers from the National Crime Agency, with all three questioned and released while investigations continue.

More than 150 people have now been arrested as part of Operation Stovewood, with 20 people convicted and between them sentenced to a total of almost 250 years in prison.

Philip Marshall, senior investigating officer for Operation Stovewood, appealed to anyone who has been a victim or witness of child sexual abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013 to get in touch via www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/Stovewood.
