DETECTIVES are turning to the BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow programme to help crack two crimes in Chesterfield.

The show will feature an offence in which a 29-year-old man was sprayed in the face by a burglar he confronted at his grandmother’s house on Chesterfield Road, Staveley.

Police will also use the programme to appeal for help in tracing 47-year-old conman Peter Stead who claims to be the brother of comedian Peter Kay. He has tricked a number of pub landlords in Chesterfield by taking deposits for comedy nights which never materialised.

He told his victims he was raising money to send a four-year-old cancer sufferer to America for treatment.

The programme airs at 9.15am tomorrow.
