Truck thief in crash frenzy

Have your say

A MAN went on a wrecking spree after stealing a tipper truck and driving it into parked cars and garden walls.

A 45-year-old workman saw the thief driving off in the truck from Manor Road, Brimington and gave chase, reaching in through the driver’s window to try and stop the truck but the thief drove at a parked car, flinging the have-a-go hero off.

He then drove the truck at cars and walls on Cotterhill Lane, Church Street, and Station Road.

It was later found abandoned on King Street.

Police, dogs and a helicopter searched for the culprit but failed to locate him.

He was white, in his mid-30s, stocky, with dark hair and wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident at 1pm on Tuesday, March 29, should call Derbyshire Police on 0345 1233333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
