Troubled South Yorkshire woman 'breached non-molestation order'

An alcohol-troubled offender who breached a non-molestation order by using violence against a former partner has been spared from jail.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on March 24 how Rachel Russell, 30, of Hayfield Walk, Rotherham, admitted using unlawful violence against her ex on March 3 and subsequently admitted breaching a non-molestation order.

She admitted that this offence put her in breach of a suspended prison sentence which had been imposed for previously breaching the non-molestation order, assaulting a paramedic and for using threatening behaviour.

Toni McCann, prosecuting, said she had appeared intoxicated during the offence in March.

Jill Page, defending, said the incident which led to the suspended sentence involved a paramedic who was assaulted by Russell.

She added Russell’s ex had also attended her property in March after she had been trying to self-harm.

District Judge Naomi Redhouse sentenced Russell to a four-week curfew with a rehabilitation requirement and ordered her to pay a £90 victim surcharge.
