TWO men and a woman have been arrested over the theft of brass pipes from the Barker’s Pool fountains in Sheffield city centre.

Officers recovered one brass pipe and Sheffield Council agreed to accept £480 in compensation from the culprits – an 18-year-old man from Leeds, a 25-year-old man from Kent and an 18-year-old Sheffield woman.

Agreement was reached between all parties under the ‘restorative justice’ scheme, which sees offenders punished without the need to go to court.

The pipes were stolen on Wednesday, October 17, but those involved were captured on CCTV cameras.
