Tributes to man found dead in Sheffield park

Have your say

BOSSES at Sheffield Forgemasters have paid tribute to a staff member whose body was found in woodland in a park.

Police sealed off part of Graves Park where the tragedy happened until the body was removed from the scene.

Gareth Barker, managing director of Sheffield Forgemasters International’s forging division, said: “We are very sad to hear about the death of a valued, long-term employee who was a shift production manager with more than 36 years’ service at Forgemasters.

“He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

Apprentices previously taught by the shift production manager were sent home yesterday and told not to come in until Monday. Officers were called to Graves Park, Meadowhead, on Wednesday afternoon, when a member of the pubic made the grim discovery at 1.35pm.

Police have not yet named the man.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death, but are not treating it as suspicious. The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
