Tramlines dad must pay £1,110 after assaulting a police officer in Sheffield

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 30 how Christopher Allison, aged 42, had been out with his teenage son during the Tramlines music festival in Sheffield when the youngster was arrested after an incident.

Prosecuting solicitor Robert Coyne said police had been called to a report of a group fight and Allison tried to stop police arresting his son for an alleged assault and the defendant tried to throw a punch and ended-up striking an officer in the mouth.

Mr Coyne added Allison tried to throw a punch at one officer and as another officer tried to restrain him the defendant caught the second officer in the mouth with his hand.

Allison, of Conrad Close, Worksop, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker by beating after the incident on July 20.

Pamela Coxon, defending, said Allison had decided to look after his son – who was due to join the Army - and keep him away from trouble.

However, she added there had been some barging going-on between people and Allison’s son had fallen and after he ran away police arrested him and his father became involved. Mrs Coxon said Allison’s son was not charged.

Self-employed builder Allison apologised and accepted his behaviour was unacceptable, according to Mrs Coxon.

Magistrates fined Allison £750 and ordered him to pay a £75 victim surcharge, £85 costs and £200 compensation.
