Trainee ambulance paramedic from South Yorkshire caught drink-driving after crash

A trainee ambulance paramedic was caught drink-driving after he crashed his Mini Cooper into a wall.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on March 19 how Mark Davies, 34, of Brecks Crescent, Brecks, Rotherham, was seen by another motorist crashing through barriers before hitting a wall on Derek Dooley Way, Sheffield.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said the witness saw Davies’s Mini go through barriers with road signs flying before he struck a wall on February 6.

Davies pleaded guilty to exceeding the drink-drive limit after he registered 92 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the limit is 35 microgrammes.

Matt Hague, defending, said Davies is a trainee paramedic and works in the hospitality industry had been to a bar at a work party.

Magistrates sentenced Davies to a 12 month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and he must pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 24 months.
