Trail of leaves leads police to cannabis farm in Sheffield

A trail of leaves on a Sheffield street led police officers to a cannabis farm.

Officers were called to the Fir Vale area last Wednesday night after remnants of cannabis plants were found in the street.

When they followed the trail of leaves they were led to a house which had been used as a cannabis farm.

Most of the plants had been removed but 23 were found in the loft.

South Yorkshire Police said an investigation is under way to identify those involved.

The force said: “On Wednesday, January 22 officers were called to reports of the remnants of cannabis plants in the street.

“Officers have located an insecure address and a cannabis factory, some of the plants had been removed but 23 plants were recovered from the loft area.

“The property was empty, however after a forensic examination evidence has been found identifying a suspect who officers are trying to locate.”
