THE work of South Yorkshire’s traffic police will be shown on the latest TV series of Police Interceptors to be screened at 8pm todaynight.

Crews for the channel Five series spent five months following officers from South Yorkshire Police’s Road Crime Unit, which works to keep criminals off the region’s roads, reduce road casualties and tackle the anti-social use of vehicles.

Chf Insp Stuart Walne, head of roads policing, said: “The Interceptors’ production team have been with us for over five months collating footage that shows the diverse work the Road Crime Unit does.

“The series will provide an insight into what it is like to be an officer in South Yorkshire Police’s Road Crime Unit and the variety of incidents they have to deal with.”
