Traffic chaos on busy Sheffield road as police issue "avoid the area warning" after collision

A busy Sheffield road has been closed this afternoon as emergency services respond to a collision.

Police are currently on the scene on Abbeydale Road, with officers advising motorists to find alternate routes as they respond.

A closure is in place at the junction with London Road and Highfield Place, near to Mount Pleasant Park.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Please be aware that Abbeydale Road, in Sheffield, is currently closed at the junction of London Road and Highfield Place following a road traffic collision.

“Motorists are urged to avoid the area where possible and plan alternative routes.”
