Three Sheffield burglars jailed for breaking into homes in Chesterfield and Matlock

Three burglars have been jailed for almost nine years in total after they were found guilty of breaking into homes in Chesterfield and Matlock.

The men, all from Sheffield, appeared at Derby Crown Court, charged with breaking into three properties in March this year.

Derbyshire police were called following reports that a house on Foljambe Avenue, had been broken into, and officers followed the van the three men were travelling in until it was found abandoned on Mallory Close.

The trio were arrested in nearby field following a search of the area.

Further enquiries by the police revealed the three men had also targeted a property on Slate Pit Dale, and on Chesterfield Road, Matlock, stealing jewellery, on the same day.

Dale Mulligan (28) of Manor Park Centre, Cohen Roberts (28) of Halsall Avenue, and Aiden Hinkley (27) of Park Grange Road pleaded guilty to the offences in Chesterfield and asked for the offence in Matlock to be taken into consideration.

They were jailed for a total of almost nine years between them during a hearing at Derby Crown Court on Friday 24 July.

Mulligan was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment, and ordered to pay £169 in compensation and a £181 victim surcharge; Hinkley was sentenced to 26 months imprisonment, and ordered to pay £159 in compensation and a £181 victim surcharge; Roberts was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment and ordered to pay a £181 victim surcharge.
