Three hospitalised and busy South Yorkshire road closed after 'serious' crash

Three people including a child have been hospitalised and a busy South Yorkshire road sealed off following a “serious” car crash.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed the A629 Halifax Road remained closed between Thurgoland and Wortley as of 9.30pm on Thursday (11 June) after a white Toyota and a red Mini were involved in a collision this afternoon.

A Yorkshire Ambulance spokesperson said: “At 4.30pm we were called to the scene, we sent two ambulances for three patients – one child and two adults.

“We took them all to the Northern General Hospital.”

The spokesperson confirmed one of the adults had sustained “serious injuries” in the crash. The other adult and the child suffered “minor injuries”, they said.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said two police cars were still at the scene as of 9.30pm as officers investigated the cause of the collision.
