'This was a nasty attack': Young man attacked by gang of men in Sheffield city centre

A man was injured after he was attacked by a group of men in Sheffield city centre.

The 26-year-old was assaulted on Eldon Street, close to Devonshire Green, after being approached by a group of men he did not know.

He required treatment for head injuries after the attack at 10.30pm on Saturday, October 3.

Detectives investigating the incident want to hear from witnesses.

DC Nicola Cooper said: “This was a nasty attack on a young man in a popular part of the city centre.

“I am asking that anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch with us.

“From CCTV enquiries, we have identified the attackers to be a group of four men, who are unknown to the victim.

“We know that there were other people in the area at the time, so if you can help our investigation with any information, I’d urge you to do so.”
