Third arrest as police probe alleged murder on Sheffield street

A third person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after emergency services were called to reports a man had been assaulted in Sheffield last night.

A 45-year-old man was found with serious injuries on South Road, High Green, and was sadly pronounced dead while being taken to hospital.

The 31-year-old man is the third person to be arrested after a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested this morning.

All three remain in police custody.

Formal identification of the 45-year-old and a post mortem examination are yet to take place.

Neighbours reported seeing a ‘CSI van’ at the scene since last night (January 29) and the road has been cordoned off since its arrival.

There will be a police presence in the South Road area while officers carry out their investigation.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 54 of 30 January.
