Blend Kitchen, on Pinstone Street, opposite Sheffield Town Hall, was set up in 2018 as a not-for-profit social enterprise providing training to adults looking for a route back into employment, and it has become a popular addition to the city’s culinary scene.

But the team behind it are growing increasingly frustrated by the spate of break-ins which are hampering its good work.

The latest raid happened overnight, with workers arriving this morning, Saturday, February 29, to find the window of the front door smashed in and a laptop stolen.

The premises was briefly closed, missing out on vital takings, before reopening in time for lunch.

Chris Hanson, who is one of Blend’s directors, said: “It’s so frustrating. We’re trying to do something good for Sheffield and people do something like this.

“We’re not the only place in the city centre to be hit recently. The people who do this must be desperate but they do it thinking about themselves and no one else.”

Blend is due to move from the council building it currently leases to new purpose-built premises on Ecclesall Road in a few months and is still trying to raise money for its new home.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting the incident number 236 of February 29.
