TWO bronze statuette family heirlooms were stolen from the hallway of a house in Chesterfield while the owner was in the garden enjoying the summer heatwave.

Police said the front door of the house on Chantrey Avenue was left unlocked while the occupant sat outside in the sunshine.

In addition to the statuettes, a number of computer games and a coat were also stolen during the break-in, which happened between 9am and 4pm on Monday.
